Michael Baisden Show Cancelled, Skip Murphy Show Takes His Place, What Happened?
If you’re a Michael Baisden fan you’re probably upset to find that the Michael Baisden Show is no longer on air.
On April 1, Cumulus Media Networks debuted a new afternoon drive show called “Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show.”
So what happened to Michael Baisden?
Michael Baisden alleged that negotiations between him and Cumulus Media fell through. An agreement could not be made between Baisden and Cumulus.
Michael Baisden posted this statement on his Facebook page: “We were unable to reach an agreement with our syndication partner Cumulus Media. This was not a hostile situation, sometimes parties have different ideas and visions about how to move forward. So, there is no need for petitions and boycotts.”
The Michael Baisden Show was on air for ten years and had over 7 MILLION LISTENERS… Wow!
Because of the abrupt cancellation of his show Michael Baisden was not able to go forth with his planned interviews.
Baisden was set to interview Iyanla Vanzant, Rev Sharpton, Congressman John Lewis and The President and First Lady.
Things between Cumulus Meida and Michael Baisden got a lil nasty when Baisden and his crew showed up to work and they were denied access into the Cumulus Media building. Locked out, wouldn’t let them in!
So who is Skip Murphy? I’m glad you asked…
Murphy is a 30-year radio veteran who previously hosted a top-rated morning show in Dallas for more than a decade. Recently, Murphy worked as the substitute host on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” filling in when Tom Joyner took vacation days.
Murphy is also joined by Jasmine Sanders. Sanders previously hosted mid-day radio in New York City. Currently, she hosts a television show for Centric called “Culturalist.”
“Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show” combines modern music and R&B hits from the 80′s and 90′s, topical conversation and celebrity guests.
The “Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show” is said to be upbeat, with humor, dishing on the latest trends, gossip and more.
According to AlwaysAList, Cumulus has partnered with Reach Media—the Radio One-owned company that oversees the “Tom Joyner Morning Show“—to launch the new afternoon show.
“Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show” will be produced by Rob Wilkins, a former producer on the BET late night talk show “The Mo’Nique Show,” and producer of Mo’Nique’s short-lived syndicated radio show, “The Mo’Nique Show.”
